Educational Programs

To have a comprehensive solid waste management plan in Cambria County, the public must be aware of what must be done to achieve this goal. It is the function of the CCSWA Education Coordinator to carry out such education through various types of media. In Cambria County, the recycling education work is done by Timothy Dull II.

 

    

"In order to recycle and handle waste properly, one must first know how to do it. This has always been my philosophy and I lead the way with an open policy of eduction - anyone, anywhere - I'll do it. My primary means of education is through free programming available to schools, scouts, and groups of any age, any size, and any location in Cambria County. For many groups, an enthusiastic oral presentation brings the audience into my world and leaves them laughing and learning. For others, a short description of what we do followed by a question and answer period gets the message out using information that you want to know. In exhibit settings, I can offer a variety of content and activities to engage students of all ages. If you are interested in booking a program or exhibit, feel free to contact me anytime!"

Presentations are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. Earth Month (April) and Recycling Month (October) are the busiest times of the year. Presentations for these months may need to be booked well in advance.

Why book a program? Simple! Presentations are always:

  • Free of charge;
  • Catered to any size group;
  • Suitable for all ages;
  • In accordance with State Standards;
  • Fun, exciting and informative!

How long do they last?

  • K-5: ~30 minutes
  • 5-12: ~40 - 60 minutes
  • Adults: ~45-60 minutes
  • Program times based on estimates. I can accommodate any schedule, longer or shorter, and will gladly do so!

What can you cover?

  • Recycling
  • Solid Waste, including landfills, trash habits
  • Reusing used items at home
  • Reducing waste at home, shopping
  • Litter and Illegal Dumping
  • How it all relates to the environment, economy, and our daily lives
  • Just about anything else you might need!

Where will you go?

  • Anywhere in Cambria County

Any limitations?

  • Times outside of "business hours" - weekdays after 5 and weekends - can be tricky. I'll try my best!
